Can't argue with this logic...

Michael was doing his math today (he's homeschooled) and for the activity he was supposed to be sorting words to represent addition or subtraction (i.e. come-add, lose-subract). Well, one of his words was "Go away". Michael's response?

"Well that's not very nice to say!"

1st day of vacation

Last night Dad and I went to go see Mamma Mia for my birthday. It rocked. I think I liked this time around better than the last one. It was hilarious with tons of ad-libbing. Just fun all the way around.

In about 45 minutes I am leaving for street drama on High and Broad Street. It should be fun.

There isn't a whole lot to update on at the moment. MAybe I'll have some more after I get back.

Gabri loves this...

Oh Snap!

I was having a conversation with my friend, Rachel, yesterday where she was making fun of my friend, Aaron for using the term "Oh snap!", also just making fun of the term "Oh snap" in general. So I go "Uhhh... I say that."

"No, Rebecca. You are not an 'oh snap' kind of person."

"I say 'oh snap'."

"You don't say that."

So we finally decided that it was a stupid argument and left it alone.

So today I'm sitting there in the lobby, gloating to my friends about how I get to leave early and all that nyah nyah nyah stuff. Then I realize that I have left my preplan, which will let me leave early, at home.

"OH SNAP!"

All of my friends- "Oh snap? You don't say 'Oh snap."

Clunky Shoe Season

It's fall again. Which means....... PEOPLE BREAK OUT THE CLUNKY SHOES!!I have on my Doc Martens, which I love. My dad asked me if I was glad and I said that although I love flip-flop season, I love clunky shoe season as well.

So as for my Agenda today. I have school, but I get out early. I am especially looking forward to (not) Parenting class today. We are watching *gag* The Miracle of Birth. Ok, I watched a movie similar to that last year, and those movies are only fun when CSG is sitting in the front row making commentary (probably because he is an idiot, but a funny one). So, yeah. Good times. Not. I am going to miss my Geometry test. I love that class. Why can't I miss Parenting instead? Why?

Why Edward and I don't play together

No, you are not seeing things and yes, that is Edward Scissorhands on my blog. I do not play with Edward Scissorhands. He scares me. I am clumsy enough that I do not need help get various cuts and scratches without his help.

Ok, ok. There is a point. I actually just needed a catchy title so that you would read one of my *snore* deep posts.

In the lunchline today, for lord knows what reason, my friend Liz asked me, "Why don't you cut your hair, Becca?" Well, I decided that this was a good time for me to try to actually reach someone with my beliefs instead of just using the generic "I'm Pentecostal." or "I don't think that it's right." or as my friends often like to interject for me, "It's against her religion."So I told her that it was in the Bible that women should not cut their hair. She didn't believe me. Well, I happened to have my Bible in my bookbag. So after searching, and searching and searching and searching and searching and searching (and well you get the point) for about 20 minutes I found it.

1 Corinthians 11
5
But any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled brings shame upon her head, for it is one and the same thing as if she had had her head shaved.
6
For if a woman does not have her head veiled, she may as well have her hair cut off. But if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should wear a veil.
7
5 A man, on the other hand, should not cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.
8
For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;
9
nor was man created for woman, but woman for man;
10
for this reason a woman should have a sign of authority 6 on her head, because of the angels.
11
7 Woman is not independent of man or man of woman in the Lord.
12
For just as woman came from man, so man is born of woman; but all things are from God.
13
8 Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head unveiled?
14
Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears his hair long it is a disgrace to him,
15
whereas if a woman has long hair it is her glory, because long hair has been given (her) for a covering?

For some reason this didn't convince them all that much. But I did get them to listen to me, which was kind of nice. Oh and when I say them I mean that all the people at my table were getting into the conversation. Chelsea didn't believe that I had never cut my hair. Kirstin thought I was just retarded. Aymara and Liz were actually listening. Trying to prove me wrong, but listening. It was kind of cool to have my whole table having a conversation that wasn't about (as the one half of the table does) sex, drugs, or who was pregnant. They actually had a wholesome conversation for once. I honestly didn't know that that was possible.

"Don't stick the dowel rods up your partner's nose!"

Great advice from drama extrordinaire Howi Tiller. I am doing street drama at GC as I said earlier and today was the practice for that. I learned 3 songs. It was great fun. However.. I got this e-mail a couple days ago-

A reminder that Street Drama practice is Saturday, September 23rd @ 10am-3pm @ TurnPoint Church in Groveport , Ohio 7718 Groveport Rd. , Groveport , Ohio 43125.
(Lunch will be provided.)

They lied. Lunch was not provided. So I had no money. So the pastor's wife from Hillsboro took me out to lunch. It was very nice of her.

The whole thing went great.

Read my dad's post about this here.

Update

The accident ended up just being the boy in my class and his brother. Chris, the boy in my class, broke his leg very badly and had to have a rod put in, and his brother, Joey, broke his ankle. Please continue to pray that they recover quickly. Chris is a track star so this has to be hard.

Prayer Request

FOrgot to put this up last night. Yesterday, Mt.Vernon had some really bad fog and 4 boys from my school were in a truck that hit a dumptruck headon. One of the boys is in my math class. I haven't heard anything yet. Please remember them in your prayers.

A much needed post

*NOTE* For those of you have been trying to leave me a comment- Blogger Beta has messed up my commenting box. If you want to leave a comment you may have to go to Anonymous (make sure you leave your name) or the "Use other name" box. Sorry for the inconvenience.

My blog has been feeling neglected. ("Awwwwwww, I'm so sorry blog! It will never happen again.....at least not until I have play practice, an essay due, and a sunday school lesson to write.......") Well, anyway, not a lot of big things have been going on, but the little things add up.

My baby project ended on a medium note. I ended up getting an 85% due to the stupidity of my teacher. Long story, don't ask. Turns out that my child of colic HAD been set on hard as I suspected. Wonderous, huh?

I love my Geometry class. I have an "A". It's going great. It is definately my favorite class.

On Sunday, I was at Mt.Vernon church again. Singspiration was that night. I just went, not expecting anything, and that morning, my best friend, Erica, came up to me and said "I have a proposition for you."

"Well, Hello to you too."
"Hi! Anyway, I have a question."
"Shoot."
"Ok, me and Uncle Chris were supposed to be doing something for Singspiration tonight, and he backed out. So I saw you and wanted to know if you wanted to do one last duet before you move away."

So, I did. We were going to do "Alabaster Box" and just sing it. So then at the last minute, her mom and my grandma decided that it would be a good idea to sign it too.

Ummmmm....OK.

So I had about 15 minutes for Erica to teach me the sign language for the whole song.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

It did go well though. If I do say so myself. But, you better believe that I had my eyes on that monitor in front of me on the platform the whole time to see what she was doing to make sure I was doing it right.

Last night was my first rehearsal for "Wizard of OZ". It kind of rocked. The cast is great and I had a blast. This performance is going to be so fun to work on.

Oh, and for those of you going to General Conference-

On Thursday at 6 PM, at the Ohio Union Building on the OSU Campus, come see me!!! I'm going to be doing Street Drama with Bro. Howi Tiller. I have practice this weekend. They are also working on getting us into the City Center Mall on either a weekday or on Saturday. I'll keep you updated on that.

Happy 6th Birthday, Bubby!

I am stealing an idea from this site for my birthday posts this year. For her kids birthdays she lists however many things about them for their age (i.e. Michael will have 6 facts about him because he is turning 6.) So here it goes
  1. He wants to be a "cooker" and a preacher when he grows up.
  2. He says he is also going to marry me when he grows up.
  3. He loves "engine turtles" (Ninja Turtles).
  4. He has a large church running about 150, consisting mostly of animals from the TY Co.
  5. His likes include- walking "Heamer" the dog, engine turtles, his sisters (of course), "forn" on the cob, and his hamsters.
  6. He was supposed to be a girl.

I GOT CAST!!

I got cast for Wizard of OZ. I get to play the fiddler, munchkin, and jitterbug. I am so happy I got in.

Another cool thing that happened today. I got my new baby. His name is Jack Michael. He cried all through Spanish, but he's slept for a while since then.

Female Munchkin #6

Had my audition this afternoon at 3:30 and it went absolutely amazing! I was the only one signed up for that time slot so it went by fast and the director and producer were the only people in there. I went to sing my song, and I have had a cold, so once I got to the end, I ended up getting something caught in my throat and choking on a high note. I started hacking and coughing and at this point I thought "Ok, it's all over now. I'm so dead." Well, after I finish singing and Mrs. Bell, the director asks me, "Rebecca, why aren't you in choir?"
"Well, I thought my schedule was full."
"Well, what do you have 5th period?"
"Spanish 3, ma'am."
"Aww, man. I really wanted that voice of yours to work with!"

*blinks* Ummmmm....oooooooooooooooook. I'm assuming that when you hack at the end of an audition and you are still told you have a nice voice, then it's a good sign. So then on to the monologue. It's a comedic monologue and I preformed it for probably 6 of my friends today. It went awesome. The auditioners were laughing very hard. I called my dad to come pick me up. I told him about the audition and said that there is absolutely nothing that I would regret. I also told him that no matter how well I did, that I didn't think that I would get Wicked Witch of The West. He said that on the bright side, a good audition could be the thing that keeps you from getting something along the lines of "Female Munchkin #6". I laughed about that line all afternoon.

Cancer Theory

As some of you know, in fourth grade I came up with a theory for what causes cancer. Well, I decided to see what people thought, so I posted it on Yahoo! Answers. In just a few minutes I have gotten a ton of replies. Some of them are just telling me that I'm retarded (wow, haven't heard that one before on this subject) but some of the people are giving me some good feedback. Take a look!

Did Idina Menzel have the nerves this bad?

Ok. *deep cleansing breath* *deep cleansing breath* I have my audition today. Nervous wreck. I have to SING!! And do a monologue. I couldn't sleep last night and when I did fall asleep I dreamed of all these people doing really well and me completely screwing mine up. So, anyway, I need a miracle. Or a new set of vocal cords.

They are indeed a girl's best friend

At the lilbrary last night, I got two wedding planner books. My backup plan for if I don't go to medical school (which is becoming more and more of a reality as the days go

by) is to be an event coordinator. So I was looking through the book last night and it was talking about choosing engagement rings. I said something to my mom about wanting the kind of ring shown to the left, a pear diamond with baguettes. My moms reply?
"Well, I'm sure if you ask him nicely, he will by you a pear and some baguettes."

Where were you on that day?

The question has been asked by several people today at school. Where were you on this day 5 years ago when you heard? A lot of people have these deep meaningful stories where they were in agony and so worried. Now, I'm not discounting that fact but rather warning you that my story is not as deep and meaningful. I mean, come on. I was 10. I remember that we came into our 5th grade classroom after lunch and our teacher turned off the TV very quickly and we could tell she had been crying. She told our class to sit down. She explained that two planes had just crashed into the World Trade Center and one into the Pentagon. She told us that some very mean people had done this to our country because they were jealous of the freedom that we had. My friend, Kieron, was extremely upset at this announcement because he had an aunt who worked there and I remember him wanting to go down to the office and go home. (She ended up having got out and was okay) I had absolutely no idea what the World Trade Center was. I had never heard of it in my life. So, the whole thing didn't really bother me at the time. I remember me and my best friend, Zac, had our own suspicions as to who was behind the attacks. We thought it was the Chinese because (and I told you this was a crazy story) we were having the Olympics in the USA unstead of China. And no matter what Miss Catteu told us, we were not going to be convinced otherwise. Zac almost threw his glasses away until he saw they were made in Taiwan. When I got home, the horror actually hit me. Over and over on the news they were showing planes running into these two tall buildings which seemed to explode on impact. It was really scary. Then I saw the Pentegon, with one side crashed in. I didn't understand why they couldn't put the fires out. I had always seen those Rescue 911 shows where the firemen go in, stop the fire, and everyone gets out ok. I can't remember how long it took for that fire to go out. But I do remember asking my parents every couple of hours if the fire was gone yet.

Ever since then, every year I have had teachers tell me that this is going to be the one landmark event that my kids and grandkids are going to ask me about forever, kind of like Pearl Harbor, Kennedy Assassanation, and the Challenger. I just hope that I never forget.

Never Forget

PREACH IT!

Ooooooh, I needed a pulpit and a cup of ice water in 10 Honors English today. We had to read The Pit and The Pendulum for class today and first off, let me say that, as a great fan of Poe, I was greatly disappointed by the way that he ended his story. What a cop-out. I mean, closing in walls and then all of the sudden-BOOM!- a random hand pops out and saves him. In the words of Shayna in my class, "La dee flippin' dah!". So anyway, there was a discussion question about this story having a spiritual symbolism. So in class this one kid whose (and no I am not kidding, these are his exact words) goal in life is to be a greater philosopher than Aristotle himself, pipes up and retorts "Now why would God save someone who is doomed to Hell? That's just dumb. That would never in a million years happen! If Poe actually meant it in that form he is the biggest lunatic on earth!" I literally had to bite my tongue and pretty much glue myself to my seat to keep from pulling a stunt like Evangelism Linebacker. It ticks me off that, legally, I couldn't say anything like that for fear of getting thrown out of the class. Maybe I was just weak, but it fired me up and I knew if I started I wouldn't shut up and would end up getting myself in trouble. So anyway, that's my rant for the day.

I'm so Suri......

Well, here's the baby that was so precious that we had to wait 5 months just to see a picture of her, Suri Cruise. This poor kid. I can only imagine what jokes the kids on the playground are going to say to her. Running into her, knocking her to the ground only to say "Oops! SURI!!!" Some kids will jump on their beds. This child will take after her dad and jump on couches. I'm sorry about the harshness, but after waiting for 5 months, I was expecting some amazing object of beauty that would gouge all of our eyes out with her radiating glamour. Don't get me wrong, I think don't think she's horrible to look at, actually I think she's pretty in a way. But I guess that this whole hiding her away for 5 months thing just proves the concensus that Tom Cruise is a fruit.

Sad, sad

You know what is sad? I came into the library today to, once again, work on a project and guess what? The librarians are on a first name basis, as in they actually remember my first name. Not in the bad form either, as in that I always throw spit balls at the OPAC computers and stuff either. Just I come in here so much that I have become a common person. Scary huh? The reason that I know that I am not a bad person is that when I came up here today I had a student pass from my teacher. Mr.Kaufman, my history teacher, had forgotten his passes so I was supposed to write one up. So I did and he signed it and I had forgotten to put that I needed internet on it when I had him sign it. I didn't realize this until I handed Mr. Tuel, the librarian, my pass. He replied "Oh, that's ok Rebecca. I know the project your working on and besides, I trust you with that kind of stuff." Which he also said that he couldn't trust many people with internet either. lol. I feel special. Bell just rang. Better run for Bio. Yay!

I'm Pregnant

Haha, scared you didn't I? I'm not literally. Remember that baby project I did back in March? Well, I get to do it again within the next couple of weeks. The picture to the left is of me and my "daughter", Caroline Louise, who was "born" March 4th. Now in real life, I will never, ever have children that close together! That's only 5-6 months in between kids! Argh! Anyway, i have my names all picked out and everything.

Just dropping you a hint....

Does anyone want to be my bestest friend forever? This is my dear friend, the Verizon's LG8500 Chocolate. It is the rockin'est thing on earth. Part cell phone, part Mp3. I do believe I am in love......
Oh yeah, and my birthday is in 4 weeks.

Good stuff, bad stuff, and just plain wierd stuff....

Did you ever have someone where you just didn't know what to think about them? I'm pretty much in that situation right now. There's this guy who I was friends with and then all of the sudden, he just kind of cut off all communication. I think, because I have stuff to back this up, that he blocked me from IM, wouldn't reply to my e-mails, and then cancelled his subscription to my Xanga site. It really bugged me and so I kinded conceded to the idea that we were never going to be friends again and I should just move on. Well, this morning, I get online and I have an e-mail saying that someone has accepted my friend request on Xanga. So I go on there and it ends up being the person who has cut me off. Of course it doesn't show up on my profile as me having any friends but still, it was wierd. Then I had a comment from them. So, I left one back not understanding what the hay the comment was talking about and then another one saying that I was totally blonde and I got it now. So, I really don't know. Maybe things are ok now. Who knows? Here's the really wierd part though (Deana should enjoy this, she likes wierd dream stories. lol) Last night I had this wierd dream, as I usually do. This dream involved him coming up to me, crying, gave me a hug, and said "Rebecca, I'm so sorry." That is so wierd since right after I got that dream all this stuff started to happen. Wierd huh?

So, anyway, on to things that I KNOW are awesome. My church in Minerva hasn't baptized anyone in 2 1/2 years, since April of 2004, which is about the time that the poo hit the fan, so to speak. Soooo, my dad met this woman online (wow that didn't sound right) through his blog that was looking for churches in Minerva. Her husband visited our church this week. My dad went to his house yesterday afternoon to do a Bible Study and the guy is getting baptized on SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, needless to say, we're all psyched. It kinda rocks.

Ummmmmm.......what else is going on..... later today we are going to my Grandpa's house. I get to see my Uncle Mike, who I haven't seen in forever. So, anyway, have had a busy weekend so I should catch up on some of my mounds of homework.

Deep thoughts

I hung out at Rachel's house this afternoon. We studied a little bit (a VERY little bit) and goofed off for most of the time. Somewhere along the way we discussed my favorite subject. Rachel's dad died of lung cancer when she was 7 years old. He found out a few months before and the cancer spread very quickly and he apparently suffered a lot. After all of this happened, Rachel kind of came to the conclusion that God did not care about her anymore. We've had discussions like this before but never this deep. The way she talks it's like she has just lost the ability to trust and believe. It scares me a little. I mean, I don't want any of my friends left behind or to suffer. It's stressful. I haven't gone through probably even a quarter of the stuff that she has gone through, and I seriously just don't understand. I don't know how to reach her. Any ideas?

Ahhhhh....I'm so purty

Here is that requested Sophmore pic of me. I think I look pretty good in it compared to most pics of me.

And yet more medical research....

It just never gets old, amazingly. I have about 6 slides done and 12 slides layed out and ready for me to complete them. I'm in study hall again by the way. I never realized how many jobs in Oncology there are! I had to make 2 columns just to fit them all on one slide! Oh, by the way, the things I need for my project are-

  1. What is it?
  2. History of
  3. Careers in
  4. What classes to take for a career in
  5. Interesting facts
  6. Bibliography

And it isn't due till October and I am almost done. Wow. I'm obsessive about this stuff.

My first class in Honors English was a little interesting. I have a lot of paper work to catch up on. After lunch I have my new history class and my NON-STUPID math class. And as if my schedule wasn't screwed up enough already, we also have a prep....errr... I mean PEP rally this afternoon, meaning that the period lengths are a mess. ARGH! Well, I better go now. Bell is going to ring for Biology momentarily. I have a test today. I am sure I am ready for it, but wish me luck anyway!

YAY!

Liz is blogging again!!!!!!!!! Yay!
