Bored
Today has been really uneventful. I am soooo bored it isn't funny. I slept in until a quarter till 1. And then I've listened to the radio, read, and played on the computer all day. Bored bored bored.
Homestar Runner
I love Homestar Runner!!!
This is one of my favorite websites!!
www.homestarrunner.com
It is absolutely hilarious!! If you are going to check this website out, you have to check out the Strong Bad e-mails. Strong Bad is this really obnoxious character with 2 brothers ( Strong Mad- a wrestler type character who mostly just yells
and Strong Sad- an elephant-like character who suffers from severe melancholia
) So the point of SB e-mails is fans of the website send e-mails to a given address (I've done this once) and if by pure dumb luck you get picked, Strong Bad will obnoxiously answer your e-mail in a weekly episode of SB e-mail, which are mostly very funny. Another very good part of Homestar Runner is Teen Girl Squad. They don't make new episodes anymore but you can still watch the old ones in the toons section. They are very funny if you like slapstick comedy drawn in pencil. And last but not least, in the characters page, The Poopsmith. Watch his character video in the characters section. What can I tell you about the poopsmith before you go to the website? Well, I guess I would have to say
"The poopsmith is a good guy. He just has a crappy job."

Poor Kids!!
Sometimes for fun I like to look at the babies on the Mount Carmel online nursery. I love babies!! But what amazes me is how inconsiderate their parents are! They give these poor kids names that I don't think that they realize the kid is going to have to live with forever. The names now contain symbols like @,#,&, and copyright and trademark signs. These poor kids!Do the parents realize how hard it will be for the kid to type their names into a computer. how many 5th graders know how to program a copyright sign into the computer? It's just awful. On one day I counted about 5 names with symbols. Here are a few of my "favorites"-

NAYC
I just returned from North American Youth Congress. This year it was in Columbus, Ohio at Nationwide Arena. It was such a great time! There were about 15,000+ Pentecostal Teenagers there. It was amazing! The speakers in the evening were awesome! Bro. Mark Johnston preached on Thursday night. He preached at Senior High Camp this year and is one of my favorite evangelists. He preached on "Apostolic Dew" and illustrated how our lives and witnessing to people should be with Mountain Dew. The three parts to his message were,
- The Dew is True- this is pretty much self-explanatory, God's word is true!
- The Dew is New- the generation of today has new and creative ways of bringing non-believers and backsliders into the church
- The Dew is You- the last generations power in the church was great, but this generation is the greatest power thus far
The service after that was amazing and the response was unbelievable!

why you should just stay friends!!!!
When I had a boyfriend, there were times when I got amnesia and missed being single. Now that I am back to the single life, I realize why I hated it so much. STARTING OVER WITH SOMEONE IS HARD! For example I've had this friend for a couple years now, a guy friend. While I was at camp I started to get a crush on him. Well, he found out. Let's just say I have become quite good at dodging someone with about .00000000000000006 seconds notice. Apparently a few of my friends decided that they would "help" me out a little bit. They asked him if he liked me. I reeeeeeeeeeeaaallly didn't want them to ask that because I knew that the answer would be no. But they did anyway. It's a wreck. I think that there should be some kind of physical adaptation that you can't get a crush on someone once you've become friends and have no desire to go any further. I t would help alot of people.

Pictures
I was looking at some pictures of me and my old boyfriend that were taken before the breakup and a couple from before we were even dating. I also read some of the letters and e-mails. This was a big mistake. There were 2 pictures that especially got me. I have this tiger picture frame that has never been used for anything but pictures of Jordan and me. It always sits on my nightstand. Well, tonight I was showing my grandpa pictures from camp and I had to take the newest picture out to show him. It was taken on our 3 month anniversary exactly one week before we broke up. We looked really happy and I don't think either of us suspected that the end was near. Plus he has this real goofy smile that he has when he's getting a picture taken. Not at all like his real smile which I also have a picture of, but still really cute. Right underneath this picture in the frame was a picture taken exactly 1 year ago yesterday. Same goofy smile and we look just as happy. It's funny how we look the same in those two pictures even though the circumstances were completely different and a year apart. I don't get it how we were happy just being friends then and only one of us is enjoying being just friends now. I mean, I like being friends and everything but it's just not the same. I don't know. All I know is I was so excited when I started the dating thing but now I hate it!!!

I think we should just be friends...
My family was out of town this week and I left my cell phone behind while we were gone for the weekend. I'm working camp again and I had left the phone in my motel room. My roomate was there and when she told me that the voicemail icon was flashing I went into cardiac arrest. When the voicemail icon flashes it means you have an urgent message. I was so scared! I finally calmed down a little bit and listened to my voicemail. 2 of the messages were from my grandma and 1 was from my ex. He never called my cell while we were dating so the call came as a shock. He called to tell me how sorry he was for hurting me and how what he did wasn't right. He also said he hoped we could be friends again. We were best friends for about 5 months before we started going out. He wanted to start over. So I've been hanging out with him today and I am so much happier.

I almost forgot...
Last night I forgot to put my worst breakup line. It beat all of the other breakup lines in the pit.*drumroll please*
"She's not my girlfriend." referring to the girl who doesn't know that you've dumped her yet.

Top Breakup lines (with comments
1. It's not me, it's you (no that is not a typo)
2. Well, it was nice knowing you.
3. She's just a friend.. with benifits
4. It just isn't there anymore (what isn't?)
5. 5 minutes was too long in this relationship (ow. I actually heard this one)

Breaking Up
I got dumped this past week. I hate this part in the relationship, but then again I don't really think it's a picnic for anybody. I was working at camp when it happened and so was he. After we fought and broke up I ran to the workers room ("the Pit") crying and we were exchanging bad breakup lines. I am about to post the top breakup lines I have learned this week. Hope you enjoy them and hope you don't have to use them any time soon.

Sad Soldier Story
This is a really depressing story I heard in one of my camp classes. Since It's July 4, I thought I would tell a veteran story....
A young soldier calls home to tell his parents that his military discharge has been arranged and he will be coming home soon. He has one small favor to ask though. He has met a friend in the war who has no family and no place to go when he leaves. He has also lost an arm and a leg in battle. "Mom," he says,"I would like to bring my friend home. He has no place to go. Could we please care for him?"
"No, son," the mother replies, "It would just be too much work. We just can't have an injured person around the house. It would be too much trouble."
The two hang up and the mother prepares for her sons homecoming. The day before the son is to come home, his mother gets a phone call from a local hospital, telling her that they think that they have her sons body. He had jumped off a bridge and she needed to come and ID the body. When she got to the morgue they pulled back the sheet. She gasped. The man was missing an arm and a leg.
Remember those who gave all for our freedom today. Keep their families in your prayers and never take what we have for granted.

The First Fight
Since I just recently got my first boyfriend, I'm beginning to learn that not everything about having one is so wonderful. We just had our first fight Thursday. The wierd thing is, the next day I had no clue what we fought about. It obviously wasn't that important. Things were so much better today (I've been at camp which is why me and him get to spend time together) He came up when I was unsuspecting and dumped a bottle of ice cold water on my head, I screamed and he yelled " Love you, Becky!" (being sarcastic) So me being the quick thinker I am, got 2 bottles of ice cold water , dumped them on his head and said "Love you, too!" It was pretty funny to watch.

Titanic
I went to the Titanic exhibit at COSI yesterday. It was very cool. They had artifacts like jewelry, dishes, envelopes and postcards, and even some pieces of the ship. They also recreated the Grand stairway and it looked very realistic. Then they had a Titanic gift shop at the end of the exhibition. You could buy a necklace with coal from the titanic in it. I almost bought one but the price was anywhere from $15-$30.
Who wants a piece of coal that bad?

Stan
There was this one really cool dummy called Stan who was a simulated patient. He had breath, bowek, and heart sounds, pulses, you could draw blood, give him an allergic reaction, and monitor his stats on a monitor. You can cause all kinds of disasters at the click of a mouse, and my group tried to resuscitate him when he went into cardiac arrest. We did CPR but he "died" anyway. Darn,
I can't even keep an inanimite object alive.

Intubation for dummies
When I got to the intubation station with the 3 other girls in my group we saw half of a dummy. He had a head, neck, lungs, and stomach. We named him Billy-Bob. LOL. I asked why he had a stomach if we were just practicing lung intubation, and the doctor said one of us would probably find out. I did. The first time I put the tube in it went down his esophogus rather than his trachea. When we pumped air in, his stomach filled with air. Not good. The second try I stuck the tube in too far. Only the right lung was filled with air. Again, not good. Finally on the third try I got it right. Maybe I shouldn't go into ER after all. Hmmmmm...
Test Dummies
At camp today we had an afternoon class and we went to 6 different stations and learned how to do different medical procedures. Below are the stations and what we did at each. Each station had a test dummy with which we saw how they did the different procedures.
- Tracheoectomy- we learned the basics of placing a tube in the trachea and suctioning and cleaning it out.
- Basic Physical- Used a doppler to hear heart sounds, tested reflexes, and used a tuning fork to test hearing.
- IV's, Catheters, and Scopes- saw how to put in an IV and a catheter, experimented with otoscopes and opthomoscopes.
- Ventilators and Resusitation- they hooked us up to a ventilator and showed us how it worked.
- Intubation-How to put a tube in the throat.
- Stan- a very cool simulated patient in an ER environment. He died on us however

I luv med school
If any of you read my dad's blog you know that I am attending Camp Mount Carmel this week. I get to do a ton of stuff like scrub in for surgery and all that good stuff. We took a tour of the hospital today and we looked at the Trauma, OB, Neonate, Ambulatory, Pathology and Hemotology Lab, and then met a bunch of surgical students who did a class for us in the afternoon. It was a very fun experience fo ranyone who wants to go into the medical field.

A really good book
Today was just one of those really, really long days where you go "Oh my lord I just want to be back at school". Needless to say these days are really, really rare. I got a chance to just sit and read which I don't get to do all that often. The book is called"She Said Yes". It's about Cassie Bernall, who was one of the girls killed in the Columbine school shootings because when her murderers asked her if she believed in God, she said yes. It's a very sad story, but a very good book. Her mom wrote it a month after Cassie died. I recommend it to anyone on any day that you have plenty of time to read because it is a really good book.

Road Trip
One of the things I love most about summer, spring, and winter breaks is my trips to work with Dad. He works from home but is on the road a lot, so when I'm not at school I go with him sometimes. This is so fun because even though I have to get up really early sometimes (not my favorite thing in the world to do) I can get out of the house and just listen to the Ipod and ride in the car all day. I am a really wierd kid, I mean how many kids do you know who would rather go to work with their parents than play on the Xbox... wait. Let me think about that. Hmmmm. That's a toss up. I'll get back to you on that.
